Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS SLS?
SLS also know as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a widely used detergent and surfactant found in many skin products such as shampoo's,soaps, body washes, toothpaste etc. However, many people find this chemical to be irritating and harsh on their skin. Our soaps and solid shampoo bars do not contain SLS but do contain SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulphate) which is a far more gentle, mild and effective cleanser often used in baby products etc.
WILL THE SOAP DESIGNS VARY?
All Sapphire Soaps are individually handcrafted and most are made to order. Due to this, there will be some slight variations within the designs, especially designs where soap colours are swirled together for example. There may also be slight variations in colour shades although the same colours in each recipe are always used. However, all recipes and ingredients will always be the same for every soap made.
ARE ALL OF THE SOAPS,SOLID SHAMPOO BARS ETC SUITABLE FOR ANY SKIN OR HAIR TYPE?
While all of Sapphire Soaps have undergone and passed strict cosmetic safety testing we do not make any claims in regards to our products. We cannot guarantee that every product will suit everyone as no product on the market can make this claim. Every individual is different, so if at any time you experience any problem with a soap, solid shampoo bar or any other product, rinse with clean water and discontinue use. Please seek any medical advice if required. Also please contact Sapphire Soaps to explain any issues. Every product uses only cosmetically safe ingredients however sometimes people can find that certain products just do not suit their skin. All soaps are intended for external use only and targeted towards the general population. All soaps & solid shampoo bars are suitable from aged 3+. Soaps or shampoo bars should not be applied to the mucous membranes or eye area.
NO ANIMAL TESTING
Since March 2013 it became illegal to sell cosmetic products within the EU that contained ingredients which have been, or which contain ingredients, newly tested on animals. As far as Sapphire Soaps is aware all of our ingredients are purchased from companies that do not use animal testing on any of their products. Our products themselves are also not tested on animals.
GLYCERIN DEW - WHAT IS IT?
Sometimes you may notice that a soap has a slight film,or what may look like dew drops on it. This is called 'glycerin dew' and in no way affects the soap at all or its performance. Glycerin is a humectant which means it draws in moisture from the air, one good reason why its so great for the skin. So what can sometimes happen is that the soaps will draw this moisture from the air and in turn cause the soaps to create a film or glycerin 'dew drops' on the soaps surface.
Once the soap is run under the tap, this 'dew' simply wipes off. Your soap is perfectly safe to use and will look as good as new once wet. Allow soaps to dry as naturally as possible and avoid leaving them in a wet area. A soap drainer is useful for this.
What are Allergen Free Fragrance Oils?
Allergen-free fragrance oils do not contain any of the 26 potential allergens identified in the EU Directive. Therefore, they are less likely to cause adverse skin responses.
